When trying to distance his campaign from a contrary statement made by his running mate, John McCain chose to dismiss her like she was inconsequential. Like she was just "chatting" with some guy. Then he goes on to speak for her, to say what she really meant. I think some woman might recognize this tactic to diminish. It sounded sexist to me.
She was in a conversation with some young man," McCain said during his own interview Sunday on ABC's "This Week." "She understands and has stated repeatedly that we're not going to do anything except in America's national security interest and we are not going to, quote, announce it ahead of time."
McCain said Palin's exchange was not an official policy statement.
"I don't think most Americans think that that's a definitive policy statement made by Governor Palin," McCain said.
Hmmm...If you look closely at McCain's statement, it's vague and wandering enough to make you wonder if McCain is now beginning to talk like Palin?

"I don't think most Americans think that that's a definitive policy statement made by Governor Palin,"
This man honestly believes we care what he thinks?
I'll bet he's kicking himself for picking Milfy McMooseburger now.
LOL
No wonder her own party wants her to withdraw.
I really can't tell which is the real Palin anymore
Sometimes the real Palin seems even more funny that the Tina Fey Palin.
When you see them back to back and hear the verbatim words you realize the satire ends up being kind of like a snake trying to swallow its own tail. Where does one Palin end and the other begin? This woman is literally devouring herself.
Oh, yeah, but Thursday might be a let down though--after all this hilarity, Palin will probably be restricted to lines she has rehearsed over and over.
But will that be enough?
Somehow I doubt it.
The soft bigotry of propping up this woman
It shouldn't be, since the debates this time allow each candidate to confront the other. But there is still the sympathy factor, especially if Joe gets too tough on her. And there's the low expectations factor, just like when she was first introduced in August. What a handicap people will give her. Gore was hurt because he didn't trounce Bush more than he did in their debates. Bush barely survived, so he was declared winner by many.
I suppose conflicting
I suppose conflicting statements from candidates could happen pretty easily, but even more easily when the two candidates have known each other for as short a time as Palin and McCain have known each other.

I would think she'd be smart enough to learn his opinions
The first thing most people would do before they agreed to team up with another person for such a high profile job would be to learn all they could about them right away. McCain didn't just land her yesterday. He's been around a long time, and even I knew many of his stances on important issues. I just don't think Palin can handle running for VP let alone being president. Her whole history proves she has limited scope of vision. She never left the country to see what was happening in the world. She didn't know Bush's doctrine or even what that meant, and she can't recall any important Supreme Court cases she disagreed with? It's obvious Palin has good focus on some issues important to her like energy and fishing rights, but when it comes to international concepts she doesn't exhibit much of a grasp.
